Typical uses
Used to treat indigestion, liver and gallbladder problems. Recently,
it has gained some notoriety as an herb that can induce abortion.
Dangers
Damages the liver. May cause miscarriage. The dried herb probably won't cause
acute poisoning. But, as little as 5 grams (about 1 teaspoon) of pennyroyal
oil can cause vomiting, high blood pressure and paralysis. Death from larger
doses is possible.
